Let’s help the pollinators!

Honey bees and other pollinators are finding it more difficult to locate food sources in our ever-urbanizing world. That’s why it’s so important to create spaces where they can feed. Mrs. Leafcutter’s class explores this topic in this short, illustrated story. Her bee friend, Tina, explains the importance of pollination to the class and inspires them to build their own pollinator garden at the school. Everyone’s hard work pays off in the end as a flourishing garden full of many different pollinators is revealed.

This story came about as a project for a Communications in Environmental Science course I took in the spring of 2021. The pictures were created using water colour and outlined in pen. I loved the process of creating educational material on a subject matter that is very close to my heart. Although it was school work, it did not feel like it. Every second of it was very rewarding and even the editing was fun!
